21 Savage released on bond pending hearing

21 Savage has been released.

The rapper, who was arrested by ICE agents in Atlanta over Super Bowl weekend, has been released on bond pending a deportation hearing, reports TMZ.

“21 Savage asked us to send a special message to his fans and supporters—he says that while he wasn’t present at the Grammy Awards, he was there in spirit and is grateful for the support from around the world and is more than ever, ready to be with his loved ones and continue making music that brings people together,” the rapper’s lawyers said in a statement posted to Facebook.

The statement continued, “He will not forget this ordeal or any of the other fathers, sons, family members, and faceless people, he was locked up with or that remain unjustly incarcerated across the country. And he asks for your hearts and minds to be with them.”

The “A Lot” rapper, whose real name is Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, was arrested by ICE agents on Feb. 3 in Atlanta. The agency alleges the rapper is a UK citizen and has been living in the country since overstaying his visa as a child.

Since he was apprehended, the rapper’s lawyers have confirmed he was born in the UK and that he did overstay a visa, but as he was just a child his in-doubt status is due to something he had no control over.
