When “Maleficent 2” director Joachim Rønning proposed to Amanda Hearst on a private island in the Maldives on New Year’s Eve, he proposed with an exceptional rock.
Rønning appears to have popped the question with a 3-3.5 carat emerald-cut center diamond in a platinum or white gold diamond adorned band, Kathryn Money, VP of Strategy & Merchandising for Brilliant Earth, told Page Six on Wednesday. Money did not design the ring.
Money estimates the ring cost anywhere from $40,000-80,000. As Page Six previously reported, Rønning designed the publishing heiress’ diamond engagement ring and made sure the stone was ethically sourced. It also came as a “complete surprise” to Hearst, an insider said.
Newly engaged, the couple is house-hunting in Los Angeles.
