Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan and his daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, were last seen together in Sarkar Raj (2008). And the latest buzz is that the two are reportedly reuniting on the silver screen after a period of 11 years for a Mani Ratnam film. If a report in DNA is to be believed then, the filmmaker is in talks with Big B and Aishwarya for a film which is said to be a magnum opus, a historical drama, that is as big as Baahubali. Apparently, Aishwarya has signed the dotted line whereas Amitabh is yet to give a nod to Ratnam’s film. Besides these two, a lot of actors from down South will be seen in vital roles.
A source informed the leading daily that film is likely to be a bilingual project. It is expected to be made into several parts. The film is said to be an adaption of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s popular historical novel Ponniyin Selvan (The Son of Ponni) which has five volumes that narrates the story of Arulmozhivarman who was crowned as Rajaraja Chola I during the 10th and 11th century. Word is that the film will be announced on January 14.
