After she starred in the 1976 version of “A Star Is Born,” Streisand won the Oscar for Best Original Song for “Evergreen,” the same award Lady Gaga netted with her current hit “Shallow.”
Although Streisand has praised Bradley Cooper and Gaga’s version, she opted to present “BlacKkKlansman” when given her choice of the two movies.
She’s said of the new “Star Is Born”: “It’s a good movie; it’s gonna be a hit.”
But she adored Lee’s latest, tweeting in May, “I just saw an amazing film — it is so brilliant and so timely!” and then plugging the film again when it was released in August.
A source said: “Spike and Barbra aren’t great pals, but Barbra loved that movie.”
Lee went on to win his first Oscar, and he and Streisand were seen huddled together at the Governors Ball after the awards, as he downed a glass of Champagne and kissed her hand repeatedly, according to the LA Times.
Barbra posted a photo of the pair together, both holding his Oscar, with the caption: “I was so happy for Spike Lee last night.”
