Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Tuesday ripped the decision to allow the charges against Jussie Smollett to be abruptly dropped — calling it a “whitewash of justice.”

“Is there no decency in this man?” seethed Emanuel, flanked by Windy City cops at a press conference. “Mr. Smollett is still saying that he is innocent. … How dare he?”

Emanuel and Police Chief Eddie Johnson expressed fury over the secrecy with which the deal was made, with the top cop saying he only learned of the shocking twist as most of the world did.

“We found out about it when you all did,” Johnson told a mass of reporters, adding that if he were Smollett, he would not be satisfied that his name had been cleared.

Smollett “chose to hide behind secrecy and broker a deal that circumvents the legal system,” Johnson said.

“If someone accused me of doing anything that would circumvent that, I would want my day in court, period, to clear my name,” the top cop fumed. “Do I think justice was served? No.”

Emanuel also scoffed at the $10,000 bail forfeiture that Smollett agreed to, saying, “10,000 dollars does not even come close to what the city spent on resources” investigating the case.

“The city saw its reputation dragged through the mud,” raged Emanuel. “From top to bottom, this is not on the level.”

“This is without a doubt a whitewash of justice.”

The fire-and-brimstone briefing came hours after the shocking announcement that Illinois prosecutors had abruptly dropped its case against Smollett, just weeks after he was hit with a 16-count indictment for allegedly lying about being the victim of a brutal bias attack.

The stunning reversal left Johnson “furious,” as he was blindsided during a police academy graduation ceremony by news of prosecutors’ decision to abandon what he saw as a “rock solid” case, The Chicago Sun-Times reported, citing sources.

Smollett, who is black and gay, claimed in January that he was jumped by two masked men yelling racist and homophobic slurs, as well as a reference to President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan: “This is MAGA country!”

The “Empire” star, 36, said that his assailants doused him with bleach, threw a noose around his neck and beat him.

But as cops probed the alleged run-in, they concluded that Smollett had paid two African-American brothers, Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, $3,500 to help stage the attack.

Both brothers had previously appeared in small roles on “Empire,” and Abimbola allegedly dealt Smollett drugs.

While her client skated — aside from having to forfeit his $10,000 bond to the city — Smollett’s lawyer, Patricia Brown Holmes, maintained in a press briefing that the brothers “have said that they attacked him [Smollett],” but they have not been charged.

Smollett has maintained his innocence throughout the roller-coaster case, saying Tuesday, “I would not be my mother’s son if I was capable of one drop of what I’ve been accused of.”
