Janhvi Kapoor says nepotism did made her question if she deserved an opportunity like Dhadak

Ever since Kangana Ranaut tagged Karan Johar as the flag bearer of Nepotism in the industry, nepotism has become the burning topic for debate in Bollywood. Celebrities like Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Sara Ali Khan among others have put forth their opinion as well. While some celebrities have not acknowledged, a few, on the other hand, have accepted that nepotism does exist in Bollywood. Among the ones who have accepted the fact, is Boney Kapoor’s daughter, Janhvi, who made her debut with Dhadak. Not once but many a time, the 21-year-old has voiced her opinion on this issue keeping open curtains.

Recently, during the debutants roundtable chat with Rajeev Masand, Janhvi agreed to the fact that Nepotism is prevalent in the industry and it did make her question if she really deserved the position she has now. “The whole nepotism debate (when I was making my debut in Dhadak) did make me question if I deserved to be in this position and I realized that the right answer to it is that I’m not. I do come from a place of privilege. But I have it, so what am I supposed to do now? I’d be the dumbest person on the planet if I didn’t do anything about it. So I need to ensure that I make the best of it and push myself to work as hard as I can…only then can I justify that I’m worthy,” said Janhvi. Apart from talking about this, the actress also said that dealing with the attention of media is the price that all actors have to pay.
