On Sunday, the comedian was spotted by excited fans as she rode in the front seat of a black SUV near the intersection of Congress and 2nd Street. As she waited for the traffic light to change, Griffin rolled down her window to say greet a group of SXSW attendees.
“I have a movie here!” she exclaimed.
“We know, good luck!” one fan answered back.
Griffin is in Austin to promote “Kathy Griffin: A Hell of a Story,” a comedy concert film that follows the aftermath following her now-infamous photo of President Donald Trump. Since the image was released, Griffin has received death threats and been the subject of a federal investigation.
On Saturday, Griffin sat down with Kara Swisher to discuss the film and the past 18 months of her life for Swisher’s Recode Decode podcast.
