Lil Pump to give 2019 Harvard commencement speech, after charges dropped

Days after Lil Pump released “Harverd Dropout,” it’s being reported that the rapper will deliver the commencement address at the university later this spring.

The bizarre news was reported by several outlets on Monday, citing a press release from the 19-year-old’s record label, Warner Bros. Records.

Pump, who is touted as the university’s “youngest commencement speaker in history,” is quoted as saying (via Broadway World):

“You don’t gotta graduate from Harvard to do this speech. I dropped out, so they called me like they called the guy that made Windows and PCs and shit before I was born. You just need a cap and gown, which I got. When I found out, I was happy to give everyone a lesson. I’m all about the youth. Yes, they are the future. This is a preview of my speech, one word: ESSKEETIT!!!!!!”

The news has yet to be confirmed by the Ivy League institution, though. And the school already announced that German Chancellor Angela Merkel would be delivering its commencement address in December, so it’s still unclear how real the news is.

But even if it is, it still might not be the best part of the rapper’s Monday. It was also reported that a disorderly conduct charge against him was dropped days after bodycam footage of the December arrest went viral last week.

Reps for the rapper and Harvard did not reply to a request for comment.
