After 3 years of dating, Lily Allen revealed she and boyfriend, MC Meridian Dan, have called it quits.
“I’m single, for the first time since I was about 15,” Allen said on Wednesday’s “How to Fail with Elizabeth Day” podcast. “We’ve been broken up for about three weeks.”
Allen, 33, revealed that the breakup may have something to do with spending time on tour in the States.
“I’ve just come back from a tour in America, which is where I was when things went wrong with me and Sam (Cooper, her ex-husband,) and the same thing happened in my current relationship,” she said. “I mean, I didn’t take loads of drugs and have lots of sex with other people. I just became very lost.”
The “Smile” singer explained that she knew something was off when things were rough and she wasn’t going to her beau for support.
“It’s just been bad news after bad news after bad news and I think that fact that I haven’t called him and been like, ‘Hey, wanna come around for a cuddle?’ means that it’s big for me, because ordinarily when things get difficult I do need to have somebody around to share those problems,” she said. “So the fact that I’m dealing with it all on my own, I’m growing up.”
On Tuesday, Meridian Dan said on social media, “Like many 2018 wasn’t my best one but towards the end of it i stopped trying and started sowing a few seeds that are going to come to life later this year.”
Before dating Meridian Dan, Allen was married to Sam Cooper for five years. They finalized their divorce in 2016.
They share two children, Ethel and Marnie.
