Luann de Lesseps revealed on “Real Housewives of New York City” Wednesday that she once asked to borrow $6 million from Bethenny Frankel‘s ex, Dennis Shields, to buy an 8,000-square-foot “mega-mansion” in upstate New York.
“I was fixed on it. I had to have it, I was manic,” de Lesseps said on the Bravo series. “Believe me, I called everybody I knew for $6 million. There weren’t many on the list, and Dennis was one of them.”
She added, “I wanted that house more than anything. I would have sold my soul at that point. That’s how bad it was.”
De Lesseps asked Shields, who dated Frankel off and on since 2016, for the loan before he died of a drug overdose in August.
The SkinnyGirl founder said de Lesseps also asked her for money, so Frankel became really concerned about the “irrational financial decisions” the Countess was making.
“She got mad at me and was telling everyone, ‘Bethenny is a bad person because she won’t give me $6 million for this house,’” Frankel said. “I was like, ‘Okay…’”
At the time, de Lesseps was involved in a lawsuit with her ex-husband, Alexandre de Lesseps, and their two children, Victoria and Noel de Lesseps, over her $8 million Sag Harbor house.
Page Six reported in July that the reality star “threatened” to either sell or heavily mortgage the Sag Harbor house “so that she may purchase, for herself, a luxury home in upstate New York,” according to court papers.
