A new Amazon docuseries will show how rapper Meek Mill became the face of criminal justice reform in America.

The “24/7” rapper shared a trailer for the upcoming show, “#FreeMeek,” on Instagram on Sunday.

“#FreeMeek explores my life and the flaws in the criminal justice system that have haunted me and others like me,” he captioned the clip.

Using the rapper’s case as an entry point, the docuseries will explore the American criminal justice system and why so many view it as broken and desperately in need of reform.

“I never really looked at it as a nightmare, I looked at it as real life for a black kid in America,” the rapper said of his time behind bars in the trailer. “This is real life.”

Meek, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, has had multiple run-ins with the law since he was a teenager, most notably when he was jailed for five months in late 2017 on a parole violation. While in prison, the rapper became a face for the issue and has continued to advocate for reform since his release.

“#FreeMeek” will be released later this summer.
