Michelle Yeoh wears ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ ring to Golden Globes

Michelle Yeoh brought a special good luck charm to the 2019 Golden Globes.

The actress, 56, arrived on the red carpet wearing a green leather gown with an embellished floral skirt and matching shawl, but it was her jewelry that stole the show: Yeoh wore the giant emerald engagement ring Eleanor Young, her “Crazy Rich Asians” character, wears in the film — and eventually bequeaths to her son Nick (Henry Golding) to give to Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) as a show of approval.

Though the bauble matched Yeoh’s dress perfectly, the actress told reporters on the red carpet that it was a happy coincidence. “No, she did not design this green gown around it,” Los Angeles Times reporter Amy Kaufman tweeted.

And no, the actress didn’t borrow the bauble from the “Crazy Rich Asians” wardrobe department. “Michelle wears a lot of her own jewelry in the movie — she has a pretty extensive collection!” the film’s costume designer Mary Vogt told Page Six Style. “In fact, that emerald engagement ring was actually Michelle’s. She brought that in and was like, ‘Will this work?’ [Laughs].

“Crazy Rich Asians” is nominated for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.
