Patrick Mahomes added another title to his groundbreaking season Saturday night, receiving the league’s Most Valuable Player award during the NFL Honors ceremony.
“An amazing night! Thank you everyone who has been with me from the beginning! #ChiefsKingdom this is for you!” Mahomes, 23, posted to Instagram.
Mahomes had 50 touchdowns for 5,097 yards and 12 interceptions on the season.
After Mahomes received the coveted prize, previously awarded to fellow quarterbacks Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers, girlfriend Brittany Matthews penned a special message to the Chiefs superstar.
“You’re way more than an MVP to me. So proud of this dude, love you lots,” Matthews shared on Instagram.
Matthews has long been part of Mahomes’ journey, as the couple celebrated the quarterback’s first postseason win last month. She later wrote an emotional message to Mahomes following Kansas City’s loss to New England in the AFC Championship game.
“Many more years of success for this team #chiefskingdom,” Matthews wrote at the time.
