Rosie O’Donnell is hitting back after Elisabeth Hasselbeck took O’Donnell to task over claims of a mutual crush in Variety writer Ramin Setoodeh’s upcoming book “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of ‘The View.’”

On Tuesday, while making the morning-show rounds to promote her own new book, Hasselbeck said it was “offensive” and “disturbing” for O’Donnell to describe having “a little bit of a crush [on Hasselbeck] … but it was in no way sexualized,” and then to say that many female athletes are “at least a little bit gay.” Hasselbeck played softball at Boston College.

O’Donnell also said of Hasselbeck, who she sparred with during their time together “The View”: “I think there were underlying lesbian undertones on both parts.”

Hours after Hasselbeck said her piece, O’Donnell tweeted at her former colleague, “hey eh – my crush on u was not sexual – sorry u got scared – ❤️.”

On Tuesday, Hasselbeck also brought up workplace harassment in relation to O’Donnell’s comments, which were revealed in a book excerpt Monday. “And whether you’re a man or whether you’re a woman and you’re objectifying women in the workplace, it’s wrong,” Hasselbeck said during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.”

O’Donnell responded to that claim by saying, “surely u recall b4 it all went wrong – i never objectified u – i did find u fantastic – broadway shows – my pool -we were friends once ❤️ god love ya kid – i always did.” She also appeared to take a swipe at “Ladies Who Punch” author Setoodeh by hashtagging her post “raminSUX.”

Hasselbeck told the “Fox & Friends” panel she tried to call O’Donnell after the book excerpt was released but that she had an out of date number for the comedian. She also said she forgives O’Donnell and prays for her.

Hasselbeck, 41, worked on “The View” from 2003 to 2013. The author of the new book “Point of View: A Fresh Look at Work, Faith, and Freedom” then co-hosted “Fox & Friends” until 2015, when she left to focus on raising her three children with husband Tim Hasselbeck, who she married in 2002.
