The upcoming weekend will be the biggest of the year with multiple releases lined up in Telugu and Tamil cinema. In Tamil, Rajinikanth’s Petta and Ajith’s Viswasam will tussle it out at the box office this week and it is expected that both the films will have grand openings. In Telugu, Ram Charan-starrer Vinaya Vidheya Rama along with NTR biopic and Venkatesh-Varun Tej’s F2: Fun & Frustration will lock horns at the box office this week. Being the festive season, it is expected that these films too will have a grand opening on their release days.
Rajinikanth’s mass entertainer Petta is releasing in many unexplored nations like Ukraine and Russia and is expected to have a huge opening. Going by Rajinikanth’s fan following, trade experts feel that Petta might crank up anywhere between Rs 15 – 20 crore on day 1 including the premieres in the US. Ajith’s Viswasam has also been allocated similar number of screen counts and will also be released in European countries besides North America and Australia. Trade pundits predict that Viswasam may also clock in a similar number and end the first day at anywhere between Rs 12 – 18 crore.
